Mound builders is the name given to certain American Indians who built mounds of earth in the Ohio and Missiissippi valleys, long ago. Most of the mounds were places where the Indians buried their dead, and so were like our cometeries . Sometimes the biried Indians had been sacrified to spirits worshiped by the mound builders. Other mounds were the walls of forts.
